A combination of probiotics and saffron extract for positive mood and relaxation Probiotics are known to thrive in the gut and support digestive health. It is not widely known, however, that these beneficial bacteria also interact with different bodily systems. Research suggests that specific probiotics influence biochemical communication between the gastrointestinal tract and the nervous system— resulting in positive effects on mood. Human clinical trials on a dual-probiotic combination consisting of Lactobacillus helveticus strain R0052 and Bifidobacterium longum strain R0175 have demonstrated improvements in mood, promotion of relaxation and reduction in perceived stress.
Research indicates that compounds of the popular spice saffron promote mood health. Participants in five different clinical studies supplementing with daily saffron extract reported improved mood scores in tests, as compared to placebo or other controls. Since a saffron extract with the high content of safranal and crocin used in these studies was not commercially available, we developed our own saffron blend standardized to 11% crocin and 2% safranal.
