About Starflower Oil
WHAT IS STARFLOWER OIL?
Starflower oil is extracted from borage seeds. It contains an omega-6 fatty acid known as gamma linolenic acid (GLA), which is known to reduce inflammation, ease pain in the joints and reduce swelling. GLA is also found in evening primrose oil, and helps to keep body cells healthy. It can be made into starflower oil supplements to support the body.

There are many starflower oil benefits. Starflower oil is known to reduce inflammation, ease pain in the joints and reduce swelling. HOW MUCH STARFLOWER OIL SHOULD I TAKE?
Adults should take 1000mg of starflower oil per day to get the full benefits. This provides you with 200mg of gamma linolenic acid (GLA). For those taking starflower oil to combat inflammation, this dosage can be increased to up to 3000mg per day, but you should always consult your GP first. Starflower oil should be taken with food to increase absorption into the body.
CAN STARFLOWER OIL HELP WITH HORMONE BALANCE?
Yes – it has been suggested that many symptoms associated with menopause and PMS can be treated with starflower oil. The gamma linolenic acid (GLA) in starflower oil can help symptoms such as fluctuations in mood, tenderness in the breast area and skin problems such as acne. WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF STARFLOWER OIL?
Side effects from starflower oil are very minor, and include flatulence and bloating in the stomach. If you have a blood disorder or are on blood-thinning medications, you should not take starflower oil until you have consulted a doctor.
