All you need to know about Tinted Moisturiser

What is a tinted moisturiser?

Tinted moisturisers are a combination of products where foundation meets moisturiser. They hydrate the skin while providing light coverage, and give the skin a dewy glow. Tinted moisturisers have make-up colour pigments in them, so when you apply them they are similar to a BB cream, with the combined benefits of make-up and moisturiser in one product. If you're on a tight budget or just want a simple, quick product that multi-tasks, tinted moisturiser is for you.

Is BB cream the same as tinted moisturiser?

A BB cream is a beauty balm that is a liquid-based product. It primes, hydrates, provides sun protection and controls shine, all in one bottle. A tinted moisturiser provides the benefits of coverage and hydration in the same product, and is generally lighter in coverage.

Should I use tinted moisturiser instead of foundation?

It depends on how much coverage you need for your make-up look. If you want to cover up spots, ageing spots or dark circles under the eyes, foundation might give you a better base that you can build up. If however you just want a touch of foundation and mainly dewy skin, tinted moisturiser is a good option. Don't expect a tinted moisturiser to give good coverage, as it's more about giving you a glow all over your face. If you need to build up your make-up to conceal something, use a foundation.

Can tinted moisturiser clog your pores?

It is important to try out a few tinted moisturisers to see what works best for your skin. If you have oily skin, check that the formula is a non-oily one, and that it is suitable for sensitive skin. Many tinted moisturisers will offer some form of SPF, which may be more rich than regular moisturiser. When washing off your tinted moisturiser, make sure you use a deep cleansing face wash to remove any excess product from your pores.
