All you need to know about Bronzer

Is bronzing and contouring the same?

Both bronzing and contouring aim to give your make-up look more definition. Contouring (when done properly), aims to to add shadows to the face to give the appearance of a slimmer face, more prominent jawline and more pronounced cheekbones. Bronzer on the other hand is to create warmth rather than shadows. If used correctly, bronzing should make your skin look as though you've been on holiday in the sunshine, with an overall sun-kissed glow.

Where do I apply bronzer?

You may have been told that bronzer is similar to tanning, and you should therefore sweep bronzer all over your face. This isn't true, and you may come out looking more orange than usual! Focus applying your bronzer on just your forehead, cheekbones and jawline, which are all places the sun would hit naturally if you were outside. Don't forget your neck too, as this needs to match the tone of your face.

How do you apply shimmer bronzer?

A little goes a long way with shimmery bronzers, so keep the application very light, because you can build up as you go along. Keep shimmer bronzer on the apples of your cheeks and the bridge of your nose, because this way your skin will look really glowy and as if you have been in the sun. Use a shimmery bronzer to glow-up your overall complexion rather than to sculpt your face.

Which tools should you use to apply shimmer bronzer?

If the shimmer bronzer you are applying is cream-based, you should use a brush that has tightly-packed bristles, as this will make the overall look more dewy. For powder-based bronzers, a nice fluffy brush will help you to blend things together nicely.
