All you need to know about Highlighter

How do I apply highlighter?

A little goes a long way with highlighter, so you only ever need a small amount of product. Apply highlighter in the places on your face where the sun would normally hit, such as on the bridge of your nose, your chin and your cheekbones. You can also use it to contour by placing it above your cheekbones to achieve more definition, or to emphasise your cupid's bow.

What tools should I use to apply highlighter?

It depends on what you are comfortable with. Some people like to use fingers with solid and stick highlighters, because of the control when blending, and they are much easier to clean! For powder highlighters, a fan or angled brush is best for areas such as the forehead and cheeks. For application to smaller areas, an eyeshadow brush is ideal.

When should I apply highlighter and bronzer?

Always apply highlighter and bronzer right at the end of your make-up application routine. If you need to, you can apply setting spray or powder afterwards, but this should be at the end of your application process.

What is the most common mistake made when applying highlighter?

Many people apply far too much product. A highlighter is not supposed to coat the face like a face powder or foundation. Too much, and your shin will look far too shiny and won't have any definition at all. If you have the wrong shade of highlighter, your skin can actually look duller, too. Only apply your highlighter to the places where you need it.
