How do you apply a cream blush?
To apply a cream blush either in a pot or in a more solid stick form, smile and then use one or two fingers to apply the blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Blend it along your cheekbones, and then downwards to spread out the colour. Cream blush is more likely to fade as the day goes on, so feel free to top it up when you're on the go.
Do I need to match my blush colour to my lipstick?
You don't have to – but it is a good idea to select a blusher that matches the same tone as your lipstick. Your blusher should ideally be the same colour as your cheeks after you have pinched them. If you are unsure, a pink blush works well on most skin tones. Red lipstick and pink blush also work well together, too.
How do I contour and what products do I need?
You should always start your contour with a blush, bronzer and highlighter. Bronzer is applied to where you'd like depth, while the blusher is applied to the apples of the cheeks. Highlighter should be put on the tops of the cheekbones to create an illuminated look. To contour with blush alone, work the blush along the tops of your cheekbones using an angled brush, and then blend upwards.
Should I choose a cream or powder blush?
Cream blusher gives a more natural look and lets your natural skin tone come through, and it's also easier to blend because you can do it with fingers. If you are new to blush, have dry skin or want a more luminous look (perhaps for summer), this is for you as it sinks into the skin and is very light to wear. If you have oily skin, or if you live in a humid climate, a powder formula is better as it won't slide off your skin. Use translucent powder beneath your blusher to help blend it out.
